Choose the restrictor pan hole size you require as follows:  

3″ holes for pellets and/or ponies (10 holes in the pan)

3.5″ holes for feeding grass hay free choice - all size horses (8 holes in the pan)

4″ holes for - ration-feeding all horses,  alfalfa hay, any type of hay that is overly compacted, dry, brittle or coarse, any hay taken from round or big square bales, and horses with under or over bites, or when soaking hay, draft horses (6 holes in the pan).
